Some History of McConnell’s Trace
More than two centuries ago, two brothers, Francis, and William McConnell, were traveling along Town Branch Creek when they spotted a stand of bur oak trees that looked inviting. They chose this beautiful place to start a settlement, and McConnell’s Trace was born.
In 2001, a Lexington native and developer, Dennis Anderson purchased 230 acres of land to create a new community. He donated a 17-acre parcel to the city to use as a park which was completed in 2022.
In addition, Mr. Anderson preserved a seven-acre greenway with native burr oak trees untouched, which are now paved trails that wind their way around the community, giving its residents ample room to roam and enjoy the outdoors.
