Some History about Lexington

In 1775, a group of frontier explorers led by William McDonnell camped at a natural spring. They named the site Lexington, and it stuck.

In fact, when people say Lexington, Kentucky is usually the first thought that crosses their minds. It grew to be one of the largest and wealthiest towns west of the Alleghenies.

Lexington’s commercial district sprung up in the 1900s and boomed again in the 1950s.

This means the buildings vary from Victorian to Art Deco to Richardsonian Romanesque.

The Laundry Company is the best example of Art Deco in the city.

Lexington is also known as the Horse Capital of the World, being one of the world’s most significant centers of thoroughbred racing and breeding, as well as many other equestrian activities.

Amenities at the Park Plaza Apartments
